PROVIDING THE CHURCH WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO WORSHIP.
Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God
—this is your spiritual act of worship.

(Romans 12:1-2)

or over 15 years, Good Works has been challenging the stereotypes associated with the poor by creating opportunities where people can form friendships with individuals who struggle with poverty. Each year, God has used Work Retreats and the Summer Service Program to bring together people from different places, life situations and economic backgrounds. We refer to these groups who come to Good Works as “Worship Teams,” because they are offering themselves in obedience to God as they serve those people who are very important to Him — the widow, the stranger and the fatherless. They are choosing to obey God’s command to love Him and to love our neighbors. While service through practical deeds is important, we place a high value on the relational and spiritual component of each group’s experience in the Community of Hope. Each year, we have about 40 groups and 500 “worshippers” take part in the Work Retreat opportunities at Good Works. It is our hope that you and your group would also consider serving those who struggle with poverty in rural southeast Appalachian Ohio.
