GOOD WORKS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

      On December 19th, 2008, Good Works, will sponsor our annual Christmas party for our residents, former residents and friends who are involved with our Friday Night Life Community. Last year, we hosted about 200 men, women and children.
      We are looking for a small group of about 15 people to sponsor all or part of this special Christmas meal. If you’d like to learn more about helping with this project, please contact us at 740.594.3339 or through e-mail at goodworks@good-works.net
      The HOPE for this event is that we can celebrate the amazing grace Christ has given us and that a little expression of this grace can be experienced both in the meal together, the optional worship service following the meal, the games for the kids and the special gifts provided to each person who comes. We really want to create an environment where each person feels loved, affirmed, valued, encouraged and empowered to love and serve their neighbors! We believe that this kind of “birthday party” is what pleases God!      

We are asking friends like YOU, churches and community organizations to participate in this special event by donating one or more of the following items. This is not an exhaustive list, so if you have other Christmas gift ideas, this would be wonderful!

Good gift ideas would be just about anything that might be found on a wedding registry—nice household type gifts. Nice blankets or comforters, silverware, knife sets, bowls, platters, service sets, maybe even small appliances—things that are useful more than decorative such as pots and pans. Here are a few suggestions from the Good Works community:

For Kids:

• Winter hats
• Gloves
• Good Children’s books
• Coats
• Backpacks
• New socks
• “Barbie” type dolls

Please, no stuffed animals in poor condition or really old puzzles

For Teens:

• Art supplies
• Books, magazines (of teen interest)
• CDs and /or DVDs
• Hair care items
• Make-up kits
• A sled
• A camera (regular of disposable)
• Personal care items (cologne, perfume, etc.)
• Wallets
• Watches

For Men:

• Button down shirts
• White t-shirts (all sizes)
• Sweaters and pants—things that will help them have the opportunity to dress nice sometimes (like for a job interview)
• Wrist watches

For Women:

• Purses and handbags
• Bath/kitchen towel sets
• Earrings, rings, necklaces
• Bath products (bath salts, body wash, bubble bath, fragrances)
• Wrist watches

For Adults:

• Gift certificates (Elder Beerman, CVS, etc.)
• Good quality toiletries (like from Bath and Body Works)--you know, nice shampoos, body wash, bubble bath, cologne and perfume.
• Wallets (men and women's)
• Restaurant/grocery store/gasoline/department store gift certificates
• A set of drinking glasses
• A long distance phone card
• Wrist watches
