CHARLES BLACHFORD grew up in Highland Park, New Jersey. Christianity was never of importance in his life until the Lord used the kindness and friendship of a coworker to communicate the gospel to him when he was 22 years old. Prior to this Charles viewed Christianity as if it were a club, and thought of church as if it were an activity, like going to the movies.
This was because many of the Christians he came across throughout his life, acted like everyone else, in self-serving ways. But after seeing the Gospel lived through actions, Charles was immediately drawn to Christ, and when he began to study the scriptures, he realized that the only way to fill the void in his life was through Jesus Christ. Charles then gave his life to the Lord, and although the call to follow Christ has not always been easy for him, he is diligently working to be a better man in the Lord¹s eyes.
Charles first came to Good Works as an AmeriCorps*VISTA in 2006. He felt called to join the Good Works staff to further his understanding of how to live out his faith in Christ. In 2007 Charles returned to his home state of New Jersey and began working in commercial real estate. Although he enjoyed many aspects of the industry, he felt the Lord calling him to a full-time occupation in ministry. In October 2008, Charles rejoined the Good Works staff, and he feels extremely blessed to be here. Charles will be focusing his efforts in the Development and Healthcare arenas of ministry.
