MATT CARLYLE first heard about Good Works through his Pastor’s wife and former Good Works staff person Roseanna Hickman. Roseanna had good things to say and convinced Matt’s brother, Nate, to do a summer internship with Good Works in 2006. Feeling the financial pressures of school Matt decided to go home that summer and work in a factory to reduce his debt. After hearing the life changing experiences Nate talked about after the summer, Matt decided to kick the factory to the curb and join the summer internship the following year.
He had the opportunity to work with legends such as Howard Jones, Ken Weinkauf, Travis and Emily Jones and Keith Wasserman. God has shown him many things since working at Good Works and has confirmed that God does live amongst the poor in a real and powerful way. Since then he has been fortunate enough to land a job with Good Works at the Timothy House as Night Shift Staff. He spends most of his nights listening to resident’s stories and trying to encourage them in whatever way is best. He feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with people living in poverty and having the freedom to share God’s love to those around him.
