NICOLE first came to serve with Good Works in the spring of 2006, when her campus ministry group, Chi Alpha, came to volunteer for a week. They did building projects, home visits, and other service activities. “What really stuck out to me were the home visits. I will never forget how grateful people were to have a visitor, to find a friend.” Nicole came back to serve and visit Good Works several times. In the summer of 2009, Nicole decided Good Works was the place she wanted to spend the next year of her life. Her role here will be to serve within our Kid’s Club Program, Senior Friends Program, and our Training for Life Computer Class, taught at the Timothy House.
Nicole is a recent Wright State University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education. She has a passion to serve immigrants and hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. “I desire to help those the world does not want to help. In the United States, immigrants and strangers are often forgotten, pushed aside, and mistreated. I want to step in and be an advocate to people who have been marred by misjudgment and abuse.”
Nicole enjoys such activities as biking, hiking, walking, canoeing, sewing, writing, reading, cooking, traveling, and working with children, teens, and elderly.
“For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it.” John 12:47b (NIV)
Jesus, overhearing, shot back, “Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: 'I'm after mercy, not religion.' I'm here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders.” Matthew 9:12-13 (The Message)
